For NT clubs and schools

Swim meet and school carnival timing in the Northern Territory.

From an outdoor pool in Darwin to a volunteer-run club in Alice Springs, EasyMeet turns the phones already on deck into synchronised timing, with no gear to hire.

Club nights

8 clubs, run by volunteers, spread over huge distances

Swimming NT counts 8 clubs: Alice Springs, Casuarina, Darwin, Katherine, Nhulunbuy, Nightcliff, Palmerston and Kununurra. Every one of them is volunteer-run, and the distances between them are on another scale to most of the country, Alice Springs to Darwin is well over 1,500 kilometres. That spread means a club night is often the only swimming competition happening for hundreds of kilometres in any direction, timed by whoever from the committee is free that evening.

  • Import nominations from Swim Central as an HY3 file
  • Two phones per lane, auto-averaged into one time
  • No timing gear to buy, store or hire for a volunteer-run club

School carnivals

Remote schools and outdoor carnivals

Remote NT schools can be hours from the nearest pool, which shapes swimming programs and carnivals very differently to a capital city. Where a pool is close, carnivals tend to be held outdoors: Darwin's secondary schools carnival, for example, runs at the outdoor Parap Pool. That means weather, heat and glare are part of planning the day in a way they rarely are further south.

  • Suits a single-school carnival or a remote community event
  • Run sheet printed straight from the imported program

Timing without easy access to a pool, let alone gear hire

When the nearest pool can be hours away and the nearest timing-gear supplier further again, hiring touchpads for a one-off carnival is often simply not realistic. Volunteer committees running NT clubs and schools are generally working with whatever is on hand on the day, which for most of the population now means a phone. Getting an accurate, consistent time out of that, rather than a single stopwatch passed hand to hand, makes a real difference to how seriously results can be taken.

Why EasyMeet

Where EasyMeet fits in the NT

EasyMeet was built for exactly this problem: no hardware to buy, store or freight across huge distances, just the phones a club or school already has. It works the same on an outdoor deck at Parap Pool as it does indoors, and a volunteer committee in Katherine or Nhulunbuy gets the same features as a club in Darwin, with results exported as PDF and CSV ready to hand to whoever needs them, straight after the last race.

  • No timing gear to buy, store or freight across the NT
  • Same setup for an outdoor pool or an indoor centre
  • Results exported and ready before everyone has left the pool

Questions

NT questions

Does EasyMeet work for an outdoor pool carnival?

Yes. EasyMeet runs in a phone's web browser, so it works the same on an outdoor deck like Parap Pool as it does at an indoor centre.

We're a small, volunteer-run club. Is this realistic for us?

Yes. There is no hardware to buy, store or freight in, and no account to create for timers, which matters when a club is run entirely by volunteers with limited time and budget.

Our school is a long way from the nearest pool. Does EasyMeet help with that?

EasyMeet doesn't change the distance to the pool, but once you're there, it removes the need to also source or hire timing equipment, which is often the harder problem in a remote location.

Can EasyMeet import our Swim Central nominations?

Yes. Drop in the HY3 export and the whole program, every event, heat and lane, builds itself and matches against your roster.

Has EasyMeet run a real event in the NT?

EasyMeet has timed full community club nights on phones. We are onboarding clubs and schools across the NT now, so get in touch before your season.
